After many months of testing and releasing previews, the final version of the new cross-platform browser is available for download using an standalone installer and Windows Update. Also, for those who want to always be the first to get their hands on latest features and improvements, Microsoft Edge is available in the Canary channel of the Insider program.

How to download stable version of Microsoft Edge Chromium using installer

To download the final stable version of Microsoft Edge Chromium, use these steps:

  • Open Microsoft Edge Chromium download.
  • Click the blue Download for Windows 10 button.
  • Microsoft Edge new version download page
  • Quick tip: Click the down arrow button to select the version for Windows 8.x and Windows 7. If you’re looking to download the macOS version, click the macOS tab, and then click the Download button.
  • Save the MicrosoftEdgeSetup.exe file on your device.
  • Double-click the file to begin the installation.
  • Continue with the on-screen directions to complete the setup.

Once you complete the steps, the Chromium version of Microsoft Edge will install on Windows 10, and it’ll replace the legacy version of the browser.

Click the blue Download for Windows 10 button.

Save the MicrosoftEdgeSetup.exe file on your device.

Double-click the file to begin the installation.

Continue with the on-screen directions to complete the setup.

How to download final version of Microsoft Edge Chromium using Windows Update

Microsoft will also be pushing the new browser through Windows Update as an automatic update, but it’ll happen on future updates (not on January 15).

To download and install Microsoft Edge Chromium with Windows Update, use these steps:

  • Open Settings.
  • Click on Update & Security.
  • Click on Windows Update.
  • Click the Check for updates button.

Alternatively, instead of downloading the stable version, you can install the Canary version of Microsoft Edge. It’s a less stable experience, but it’s the only release that includes the most up-to-date improvements and upcoming features.

To download and install the latest pre-release version of Chromium Edge with the most features and fixes, use these steps:

  • Open Microsoft Edge Chromium download website.
  • Click the More platforms and channels link.
  • Microsoft Edge Insider website
  • Under the “Canary Channel” section, click the Download button.
  • Microsoft Edge Chromium Canary download
  • Click the Accept and download button.
  • Save the installer on your computer.
  • Double-click the MicrosoftEdgeSetup.exe file to start the installation.
