Although Windows 10 is primarily optimized for productivity, it’s also designed for people who prefer to play games on PCs. The issue is that sometimes you may face problems trying to play with a group of friends or setting a voice chat session on Xbox Live.

However, starting with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, Microsoft is introducing a Xbox Networking feature in the Settings app to help to troubleshoot and fix any issues that may prevent you from using voice chat and playing multiplayer games with other users on Xbox Live.

In this guide, you’ll learn the easy steps to use Xbox Networking to resolve issues with the Xbox Live experience when playing games on Windows 10.

How to fix Xbox Live problems on Windows 10

  • Open Settings.
  • Click on Gaming.
  • Click on Xbox Networking.
  • Inside the settings page, you can see the connection status to the internet and to Xbox Live services. The current performance, such as latency and packet loss (high numbers are a problem), and Xbox Live multiplayer information, such as NAT Type and server connectivity, which can give you a hint of what may prevent you from using voice chat and multiplayer games. Click the Fix it button to try any networking issue with Xbox Live.

If the Xbox Networking feature isn’t available on your current installation, it’s probably because you’re not running the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, which is expected to release in September 2017.
